We call her darling Daphne. If you spend just a few minutes with her, you’ll understand why.

Daphne is a beautiful 2-year-old short-haired tortoiseshell tabby (Torbie) with a gentle soul and lots of love to give. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate, although she does take a couple of minutes to warm up when meeting someone new. Once she feels comfortable, she will snuggle and purr. Daphne is a true cuddle bug who simply wants to love and be loved.

Sadly, Daphne has recently experienced a lot of change and heartbreak. She was orphaned when her beloved guardian passed away less than a year ago from leukemia. Her guardian’s mother desperately tried to keep Daphne and her other cat, Baby Girl, by sneaking them into her apartment, hoping she could give them a safe place to stay. But when the landlord discovered the cats, she was given an impossible choice: the cats had to go, or she had to go.

Daphne’s world changed once again.

She has gone from being a cherished and very well-loved family cat to suddenly finding herself without her mom, her home, and the familiar life she knew. To make matters harder, her feline companion, Baby Girl was adopted last week. Daphne is understandably scared, confused, and very lonely right now.

But underneath that uncertainty is the same loving girl who once knew what it meant to have a family. We truly believe that with a little patience, reassurance, and love, Darling Daphne will blossom again. She should acclimate quickly once she knows she is safe and has someone of her very own to trust.

Daphne is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She isn’t a huge fan of other cats, although she did successfully live with Baby Girl. She has not been around dogs. Her dream would be a home where she can be your one and only pet.

Because Daphne needs a peaceful place to decompress and feel secure, she would do best in a quieter home without small children — ideally with someone who has lots of love, patience, and affection to give. Perhaps what Daphne needs most is someone who needs her as much as she needs them.

Imagine coming home to those beautiful tortie markings, soft fur, and a sweet girl who is grateful for every gentle pet and loving snuggle. Imagine giving a lonely little heart the chance to feel safe and cherished again.

If that sounds appealing, Darling Daphne could be the perfect cuddle bug and companion for you. She has lost everything she once loved. Now she’s waiting for someone to show her that she hasn’t lost her chance at love.
