Carson Tahoe Blue Bulls.

On August 23, members from the Carson Tahoe Rugby Club joined with other northern Nevada rugby clubs to play in a 15’s tournament in Bend, Oregon.

The tournament, known as the Cascade Classic, was hosted by Bend Rugby Club, with eight teams in the men’s division, and six in the women’s bracket. 2025 marked the 50th anniversary of the Cascade Classic, featuring teams from Oregon, Nevada, Montana and Idaho.

Carson Tahoe players merged with several Reno Zephyrs players, as well as one player from the University of Nevada, Reno. The “Northern Nevada Motley Crew” were accompanied by Chico Oaks players.

The Motley Crew played in three matches over the weekend, losing the first to the Moscow Mules (ID), with a second match victory over the Soggy Bottom Rugby Club (affiliated with Bend, OR rugby), and a razor-thin defeat to the Portland Pigs (OR) in the 5th-place match, 17-15.

As of now, the Blue Bulls have wrapped up their 2025 season, but are in the works to schedule another match before it’s all set and done.

The Blue Bulls in 2025 played from April to August, with practices twice a week at Mills Park. On April 19, Carson Tahoe set a club record for point scored, in a 78-10 victory over Redding.
