The Nevada Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) Program has awarded more than $912,000 to 13 projects that will promote safe, responsible, and sustainable off-road recreation across Nevada.

The OHV Program received 14 applications requesting more than $1.17 million in funding. Following a competitive review process, the Nevada Commission on Off-Highway Vehicles approved $912,917.86 for projects including off-road site stewardship and youth education, OHV law enforcement and safety initiatives, improved signage at staging areas, and the creation of a new naturalist trail on Ward Mountain near Ely.

“It’s great to see OHV registration money going back into the Nevada offroad community,” said Kaden Barmore, Off-Highway Vehicles Program Manager. “The Commission funded some great projects.”

• Storey County Sheriff – NRS 490 Enforcement, Education, and Outreach – $28,927

• Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office – Ride Safe, Ride Smart Humboldt County – $16,860

• Mineral County – OHV Stewardship and Safety Initiative – $102,121

• Friends of the Bridgeport Avalanche Center – Avalanche Safety Training – $7,799

• City of Fernley – OHV Trail Plan – $86,250

• Flora Inconspicua – Ward Mountain Off Road Naturalist Trail – $19,053

• Carson City Sheriff – Sheriff’s Honda Project – $49,763

• BigHorn Outback Explorers – Phase II OHV Staging Area Signage – $1,573

• Nevada Offroad Association – Outreach, Education, Stewardship, and Staging Area
  Improvement –$339,195
