Fifteen Carson City non-profits were awarded nearly $800,000 in COVID-19 relief funding via the CARES act during the Board of Supervisor’s meeting held Thursday.

The State of Nevada through the CARES Act has allocated over $10 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds “CRF” to Carson City. Carson City’s Preliminary Plan of Expenditure allocated $1 million to be awarded to non-profit organizations located in Carson City.

There were 17 grant applications submitted to the city, but two programs were not considered because they are not Carson City non-profits.

Staff recommended $790,469 be awarded to various non-profits in the community. The plan was followed through and agreed up.

Both Supervisor Bonkowski and Supervisor Giomi abstained from voting due to their conflicts of interests with different non-profits.
