A Carson City man was shot and killed this morning in the Brunswick Canyon area following an apparent argument that involved two other local men, authorities said.
The body of the dead man was recovered at around noon after a Carson City man went to the Sheriff’s Office on Musser Street at around 9 a.m. to report the shooting, said Sheriff Ken Furlong. A second man was found later in Brunswick Canyon, he added.
Furlong told the Nevada Appeal that the man who first reported the incident feared for his safety and drove to the Sheriff’s Office, arriving in a truck that had evidence of a shooting.
The two surviving men told authorities that the dead man was a friend of theirs and that they had been drinking in the canyon earlier, Furlong said. The time of the shooting hasn’t been determined. Apparently the three were “residential companions” Furlong added. The age of the dead man is not known. His relatives have been notified.
“This is an evolving situation. The scene has not yet been processed and we’ve asked for assistance from Washoe County Sheriff’s Office,” Furlong said. “Both of the surviving members of the group are cooperating.”
