Hannon's Estate Diggins' new store, which celebrates its Grand Re-Opening on Friday, August 21, is located at 301 Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

This Friday, Hannon’s Estate Diggins’ will unveil its immense recently relocated showroom during a “Grand Re-Opening” celebration at its new Carson City store located at 301 Hot Springs Road, steps away from its former location.

The new location, formerly Affordable Home Furnishings, has a showroom that spans 6,000 square feet and is organized and filled with quality estate merchandise including home furnishings, clothing, collectibles and more.

Friends gather with Brenda Hannon in front of the New Hannon’s Estate Diggins’ location at 301 Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

The celebration at Hannon’s Estate Diggins’ also known as “The Diggins'” is this coming Friday, August 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. There will be drinks, hors d’ oeuvres, raffle drawings and discounts on merchandise.

Also of note, from 3 to 4 p.m. all jewelry will be 20% off and from 4 to 5 p.m. all housewares will be 20% off. Then from 5 to 6 p.m. all clothing will be 20% off.

As a bonus, owner Brenda Hannon notes that a recent client had four storage units stuffed with all new Christmas, Disney, Snoopy, Star Wars and every holiday decorations, so for those who are collectors or want to add to their Christmas decorating collection, the new Hannon’s Diggins’ store is the place.

Brenda Hannon explained the move into the former Affordable Home Furnishings store brings more visibility than the previous 411 Hot Springs Road location, which was set far back of the facility. The new Hannon Diggins’ sign is easily recognizable to motorists on Hot Springs Road.

At the new location, The Diggins’ has its own dedicated parking lot and is at the front of the building, visible from the street. It is a larger air conditioned building and has a dedicated “bedroom” where they will sell the same brand of mattresses that Affordable Home Furnishings sold and bedroom sets from the estate liquidation clients.

Hannon owns Hannon’s Estate Service, Hannon’s Estate Diggins’ and The Diggins’ 2 at 10128 (Highway 50) in Mound House. She has been in the estate liquidation business since the 1980s, starting out buying storage units at lien sales and then began helping friends — and later clients — with their estate sales.

A native of Quincy, Calif., Hannon moved to Carson City in 2019. That’s when a real estate agent in the area told her they needed another good estate liquidation company in the area.

Hannon’s Estate Service began by doing on-site estate sales in 2020 but found they kept getting asked if they could just buy out the estates and pass up the on-site sales. Thus Hannon’s Estate Diggins’ originated. Hannon’s goes in, buys out the estates and sells them in their estate liquidation retail stores in Carson City and Mound House.

The Diggins’ and The Diggins’ 2 are not thrift or antique stores. They are estate liquidation stores that specialize in everything you would find in estates. They do not accept donations like thrift stores and they have a very clean and organized atmosphere.

The Diggins is the fancier upscale store and features the nicer furniture, jewelry, collectibles, vintage clothing, select tools in the “Man Cave,” new and gently used housewares, holiday items basically anything you would find in an estate.

The Diggins’ 2 at the Mound House location is more of a “scratch and dent” store, Hannon explained, featuring furniture for restoration, all of the larger shop tools, camping, outdoor cooking, snow plows and more, basically all of the more rugged items you would find in an estate.

The new Hannons Diggins’ is located at 301 Hot Springs Road in Carson City. They are open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Diggins’ 2 at 10128 (Highway 50) in Mound House is open every other Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

An e-mail sign up sheet is offered at both locations for customers to receive sales and open dates information. Also you can get more information on the website here and Facebook here.
