Summer road construction projects continue this week in Carson City as the Nevada Department of Transportation, contractors and city crews continue work throughout the region.
Here is the Carson City road construction report through Aug. 22. As always, expect some delays in the project areas, be courteous and give crews “a brake” in the designated road construction zones.
With the continuing Nevada Department of Transportation project at the Carson City freeway, the following closures are planned:
— Valley View Drive has been permanently closed between Edmonds Drive and Line Drive.
— Koontz Lane will be closed between Raglan Circle and Edmonds Drive until January 2011.
The Roop Street widening project is continuing and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The following impacts are expected this week:
— US 50/William Street will be closed at Roop Street from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14 through 5:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, for underground utility construction. Traffic will be detoured at Stewart Street and Saliman Road. Local business access will be accommodated beyond the detour to the closure at Roop Street.
— US 50/William Street will have intermittent lane closures at Roop Street. A single travel lane may be restricted from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for eastbound traffic or a single travel lane may be restricted from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for westbound traffic.
— Roop Street is closed to through traffic from William Street to Robinson Street. This closure is expected to last through early September. Local business traffic and patrons of the Carson City Community Center will have access to Roop Street via Washington Street. Washington Street will have intermittent lane closures under flagger controls with minimal delays.

— Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project. Traffic may cross Roop Street at Corbett Street and at Long Street.
The Nevada Department of Transportation is working to add a third northbound lane on US 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. The following activity is expected for this project:
— Lupin Drive at Clear Creek Road remains closed for the reconstruction of that intersection. Business access for the south end of Lupin Drive will be provided from US 395 at the existing signal; business access north of the Clear Creek intersection will be provided from the north off of Synder Avenue.
— Work continues with single lane closures on northbound US 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Shoulder work will continue during the daytime hours with no impacts to traffic.
Because of utility work, the following impacts are expected:
— Trenching will occur along Emerson Drive between Mark Way and the freeway. There will be no lane closures, but please use caution.
— On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Mark Way will be closed between Emerson Drive and Louise Drive. Detours will be signed.
