Nevada Humane Society in Carson City will offer a new clinic beginning this week to allow for low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. The clinic is part of the new Carson City Animal Shelter operated by NHS that opened October 2016.

The low-cost spay and neuter resources are available for those who cannot otherwise afford it. People must qualify by showing proof of social security or public assistance. Low-cost vaccines and microchips are also available.

The Carson City clinic hours will be as follows and by appointment only for those that qualify:
— Monday and Thursday, by appointment only, spay and neuter services for dogs
— Friday, by appointment only, spay and neuter services for cats
— Free Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for feral (wild) cats is available every Tuesday and walk-ins are welcome (no appointment needed). Other details include:
— Cats must arrive in humane traps (no boxes, crates or pet carriers)
— Loaner traps available with refundable deposit
— Kittens must be a minimum of 3lbs or 3 months old
— All cat and kittens will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and eartipped

In addition to the above services, a low-cost, walk-in based vaccine clinic will be held Fridays, beginning August 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. for dogs and cats.
