Hot August Nights 2025 has arrived in Northern Nevada, with Virginia City celebrating its own opening weekend of the famed car show, which began Friday and continues through Saturday on the Comstock through 4 p.m.
As one of the official kick-off locations, Virginia City has been transformed into a classic car hotspot, with hundreds of vintage vehicles, live music and local businesses welcoming visitors for two days of automotive pride and hometown spirit.
“We’re always excited to welcome visitors for Hot August Nights,” said Todd Tuttle, tourism director in Virginia City. “This event transforms our historic streets into a showcase of classic cars, live music and family-friendly fun. It’s a chance for both longtime fans and first-time visitors to explore our truly historic town. We’re proud to be a part of such an iconic event and look forward to welcoming everyone who comes out.”
The event features a Show-n-Shine on historic C Street, which will be closed to traffic during event hours. Hot August Nights volunteer members will be on-site to assist with parallel parking throughout the closed area.
Through traffic will be able to utilize B Street going both north and south. D Street will be one-way, heading southbound from Mill Street to Hwy 342. Visitors are encouraged to stroll the main thoroughfare, admire the rows of polished cars, and take in the historic atmosphere, shops, museums and saloons that make Virginia City a uniquely Nevada destination.

Hot August Nights is considered the country’s premier nostalgic classic car event drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators and 6,000 registered car participants annually to 12 venues across the Reno-Tahoe region.
Celebrating America’s love affair with classic cars and rock ‘n roll, this 10-day event is a dream for car buffs and includes Show-n-Shines, cruises, competitions, auctions, drag races, a swap meet, parts and accessories vendor area, and free live entertainment nightly.
