Every month, Carson City Park Rangers offer various Ranger-led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun and exciting adventures. All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many capital city parks and open space areas.
Online registration is often required so Park Rangers have a proper head count. All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program here.
Regional Junior Ranger Day
The community is invited to the 6th annual Regional Junior Ranger Day at Pete Livermore Sports Complex, 1555 Livermore Ln, Carson City, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The event will feature live music, food, activities hosted by local park agencies, a helicopter landing, and a dunk tank! Participating agencies include Nevada State Parks, Reno Parks, Washoe County Parks, and Carson City Parks. All kids will become the ultimate Junior Ranger during their swear in ceremony! Everyone of all ages is welcome to join in on this fun day!
All Junior Rangers will receive a passport and need to visit each park’s booth before getting sworn in. Dress for the dunk tank and bring your own towel! Kids who meet the height requirement will be able to enter the dunk tank. All participants will be required to check in with a Carson City Park Ranger to sign a waiver, and parents will need to sign for minors.
Dance to live music from The Sun Rays who play instrumental rock and surf music! Lady Griller will be serving delicious food and La Tapatia will be serving homemade ice cream, popsicles, and fresh seasonal beverages.
