By Ronni Hannaman — As Carson City continues to grow, the less larger meeting space we seem to have, but there’s a close-knit family who is making a dent in the growing meeting market by opening L&N Party Rentals just off Highway 50 at Lompa Lane that can accommodate up to 300.

Les and Norma Reddick (the L&N) and Edward Porter, Norma’s youngest son, have taken their love for hosting parties to the next level by turning a large vacant space at 1770 Dori Way into an affordable party venue for any occasion.

They also provide rentals of table, chairs, glassware, plates, décor and more for those who may have a large enough venue to host a party or wedding or other important occasion but may lack the necessary equipment.

As a party planner herself, Norma was aware of the need for a larger venue and the need for equipment having had the need herself.  She states, “I was always the organizer of all family events and finding myself short of tables and chairs to accommodate guests with nowhere close to rent what I needed, I thought it would be helpful to provide this service to others.”

Norma decided to take her homegrown talent as a super organizer to the next level and solicited her willing husband Les and son Edward Porter to be a part of her dream to open a venue for parties and rental for those who wanted a space featuring a fully licensed bar, good acoustics, a dance floor, and the ability to decorate for the occasion. Parking is plentiful.

That dream has now turned into a full-blown business where those who lack space can host up to 300 celebrants. Since this is a venue rental only, the customer can provide the food service of their choice whether hiring outside catering or bringing in the beloved homegrown cooks.   Norma states, “We know from experience that many families have awesome cooks who love to cook for family and friends, thus our meeting model allows them to bring in all the family favorite dishes they would have served at home.”

They also encourage the use of caterers for the closed parties.

As a family, they complement each other. The ultimate hostess, Norma. The cheerleader, man of many talents, and husband Les and youngest son Edward who has the sales and marketing skills.

The family are proud Carsonites through and through.

Edward is a graduate of the Carson High Class of 2017 and was born and raised here and has started his own family.  He states, “Others may have wanted to leave Carson City after graduation, but I did not and most of those who left came back.”  He excels in sales and gives the venue a youthful appeal.

Norma emigrated from Colima, Mexico and is a 35-year resident. She worked at Chromalloy for 12 years and was widowed 16 years ago with three children. She is the force and is bringing her dream to reality since opening in January this year.

Les is on his third career.  He served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years and retired from Chromalloy after 28 years and is now an integral part of the business team.  He grew up in Duquesne, Pennsylvania.

Whether planning a wedding, quinceanera, Sweet 16 graduation, Celebration of Life, Bar Mitzvah, anniversary or any other special event, you now have another conveniently located venue choice.
