A 33-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
At 5:47 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a Highway 50 East business regarding a driver under the influence. The reporting party stated the driver was intoxicated in a vehicle and stated the man admitted to drinking, the report states.
A deputy arrived and spoke with the driver, who was sitting up in the driver’s seat at the westside of a parking lot. The deputy approached the vehicle and observed an empty White Claw box in the back seat.
The deputy contacted the driver and he was advised to step out of the vehicle. A deputy observed the man to be unsteady on his feet and learned the vehicle was not running but the keys were still in the ignition, according to the report.
The deputy informed the driver that CCSO was contacted because someone had reported that he was intoxicated and in control of a vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking and said he had been drinking in the vehicle for around an hour. The deputy asked how he arrived at the location. The driver said he drove there but started drinking once he arrived. The driver also stated that he moved his vehicle.
The officer told the driver the keys were in the ignition when deputies arrived. The driver said he had nowhere to go and came to his work to talk to his coworkers because he had been having a difficult time lately. He said he went to his work to get help for his drinking problem and said they told him to wait in his car and they would call for help, the report states.
The deputy asked what he had to drink. The man said he had some White Claws. While speaking, the deputy noticed a light odor of alcohol coming from his person. The driver was asked if he would submit to field sobriety tests. He agreed and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .202 and was arrested. He consented to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $1,137.
