Sage Donnelly of Carson City won the gold medal June 24 in first International Canoe Federation World Cup Extreme Slalom in Liptovsky, Slovakia.
The 17-year-old daughter of trainer-parents, Matt Donnelly and Stephanie Viselli, Sage is a former world champion in freestyle kayak, placing second, has made both Sr. and Jr. Team in Canoe and Kayak Slalom (Olympic Sport) for the past 2 years, is the only first female athlete to represent the USA in the Olympics in Kayak, and for the first time ever-Women’s Canoe is now an Olympic sport.
