The build-up to America’s 250th birthday in the capital city started early with a community block party celebration Saturday hosted by the Carson City Elks Lodge.
The free event brought a patriotic tribute to the American flag, live music by Jakota Wass and Huckleberry Road, hot dogs and ice cream, raffle prizes, dunk tank, corn hole and carnival games, vendor and food booths, Nevada Day Inc. booth and more. Festivities continue until 4 p.m. The Elks Lodge is located at 515 North Nevada Street.
Meanwhile, at 5 p.m., the Carson City Emblem Club is set to host an all American BBQ fundraiser dinner for the Carson City Sheriff’s Search and Rescue. The cost is $15 per person and tickets are limited.
