Local children and families were treated Saturday to the annual Nevada Outdoor Experience, held this year at the Capital City Gun Club off Arrowhead Drive in Northeast Carson City.

The free family event is meant to highlight the fun of exploring outdoor recreation and activities.

Organizations from throughout Nevada brought their expertise for such activities as rock climbing, metal detecting, bird watching, gold panning, wildlife conservation, trap and skeet shooting, archery and more.
