Bicycles of all sizes and shapes took part in the Clunker Criterium, a free light-hearted public riding event for bicycle enthusiasts, Friday evening to kick off the third annual Epic Rides Carson City Off Road professional mountain biking circuit in downtown Carson City.

Nearly two dozen riders, some having costumed themselves as well as their rides, participated in the zany circuit criterium that features two laps around the business district leg of the race course.

The Clunker Criterium preceded the women’s and men’s Fat Tire Criterium race, the professional circuit opener to the Carson City Off Road.

Racing continues Saturday and Sunday from North Carson and Musser streets next to the state capitol.
