A free community celebration marking the 80th anniversary of Eagle Valley Children’s Home in Carson City gets underway today, Saturday, May 30 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

Opening in 1946, Eagle Valley Children’s Home celebrates 80 years of heart, hope and home with a community celebration at Eagle Valley Ranch. The special anniversary event brings together staff, clients, families, first responders, local businesses and neighbors from across the Carson City region for a day of connection, gratitude and fun.

Located at 2300 Eagle Valley Ranch Road near Carson Tahoe Hospital, guests can enjoy live music, a barbecue, classic cars, kids activities and family-friendly entertainment in a welcoming, community-centered atmosphere.

As Eagle Valley Children’s Home honors eight decades of service to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the community is welcome and encouraged to help them celebrate their legacy and the future they continue to build together. The free community event welcomes families, friends, neighbors and supporters from across the Carson City region.

All are welcome to celebrate the fun, family-friendly afternoon that features:

— Classic cars on display from the Karson Kruzers
— Activity booths and fun giveaways from:

  • Renewal by Andersen
  • Carson Valley Health
  • Knights of Columbus
  • Eagle Valley Children’s Home programs

There will be a special 80th celebration program with a performance by Local Vocals, the Carson High School NJROTC and presentations from Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell and a representative from Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.

Parking Information:
Parking will be available in the lots next door at Carson Dermatology, along with nearby street parking. There will be no onsite parking and a shuttle will be running for guests who need assistance getting to the event.

The Eagle Valley Children’s Home is a not-for-profit organization which exists to support programs providing the highest quality service to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These services include a residential program at Eagle Valley Children’s Home and a respite program provided in the family’s home. Eagle Valley Children’s Home was opened in 1946 in Carson City.

In 1976, Eagle Valley Children’s Home became a fully accredited intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Eagle Valley Children’s Home is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, is licensed by the State of Nevada and operates under the regulations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
