A fire at an apartment building in the 700 block of Silver Oak is now out thanks to Carson City fire crews.

The fire cause is unknown at this time, according to Fire Chief Sean Slamon, and investigators are enroute to the scene as of 3:15 p.m.

There were no injuries and the majority of the fire damage occurred on the outside of the apartment complex.

Gas lines were damaged during the blaze. It is unknown at this time how many, if any, apartment residents will be displaced. The building is currently shut down while the investigation takes place.

Fire department units will be on scene for a while according to Slamon.

The Carson City Fire Department issued this statement about the incident Saturday evening:

Today at 2:42 pm The Carson City Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in an apartment complex on Silver Oak Drive. A quick response and actions from Your Carson City Firefighters prevented this fire from extending into the attic and individual units. Crews were faced with heavy fire conditions on the exterior of the building. Assistance was provided by Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and East Fork Fire Protection District. Red Cross will be assisting with the citizen displaced from the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
