By Dan Neverett — An 1884 Carson City uncirculated Morgan silver dollar donated by Northern Nevada Coin is currently being raffled by the Friends of the Nevada State Museum. Proceeds from the raffle supports the work of the Friends.

The coin comes in a collector case and includes a numbered certificate explaining the significance of the Carson City Morgan dollar. The coin is valued at approximately $350. The drawing will be held at the Carson City Museum Coin Show on August 16. The winner need not be present to win.

In the Friends logo, the ‘encircling commitment’ made by the organization members includes creating opportunities for students to enhance their understanding our Nevada environment and diverse cultures; leading educational tours of the State Museum and Capitol; fundraising for special Museum needs; advocating for enhanced state funding; and fostering a sense of community for all volunteers. This past year, the members donated over 8,030 hours toward these goals.

Raffle tickets for the Morgan silver dollar are $5 each and are currently available at the Nevada State Museum admission desk, 600 N Carson St, Carson City. All proceeds support the Friends of the Nevada State Museum, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.
