Two inmates at Carson City Jail were booked Sunday for alleged felony battery by a prisoner following an altercation over toilet paper, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Destenee Alvarez, 25, and Sara Stewart, 30, were each booked for suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner following an investigation into a fight.

According to the booking report, a CCSO jail deputy was advised anonymously from an inmate of an incident between inmates Alvarez and Stewart. The deputy was further advised to watch camera footage between the hours of 2:45 a.m. and 3:05 a.m.

The deputy finished their medication distribution duties and began to watch the surveillance video that showed an argument that began after inmate Stewart goes to inmate Alvarez’s bunk and takes her toilet paper from her, the report states.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation where inmate Alvarez hit inmate Stewart in the face two times, the report states. Inmate Stewart begins to pull on inmate Alvarez’s shirt and the two end up on the ground with inmate Stewart on top punching inmate Alvarez. The two were separated from their peers, the report states.

After reviewing the camera footage the deputy interviewed both inmates to get their version of what happened as well as several in the female general pod housed in the same area where the incident occurred.

The deputy notes the witnesses asked to remain anonymous and they all said they were woken up by a fight that happened between the two women because of toilet paper. The deputy further notes the camera footage clearly shows both suspects participating in the fight. Bail: $30,000 each.
