The Leisure Hour Club is pleased to announce that the Friends of Sutro Tunnel will be the featured presenter at our upcoming dinner meeting on Thursday, May 21.

“The Sutro Tunnel is more than just a piece of mining infrastructure; it’s a monument to Nevada’s grit and ingenuity,” says Leisure Hour Club President Schnabel. “We are thrilled to have the Friends share the progress of this massive preservation project with our members.”

As a cornerstone of Nevada’s mining history, the Sutro Tunnel was originally designed by Adolph Sutro to drain and ventilate the silver mines of the Comstock Lode. It remains one of the most ambitious engineering feats of the 19th century. Snow will provide an insider’s look at the ongoing efforts to preserve this historic landmark, including the restoration of the site’s iconic buildings and the future of heritage tourism in the Comstock region.

The Leisure Hour Club dinner meeting will be held on Thursday, May 21. Reservations are required by 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. To reserve a spot, please call 775.302.8820 or email lhcreservations@gmail.com. New members are welcome to join the club. Annual membership dues are $25.
