Just after 4 a.m. Saturday morning a fatal crash was reported on I-580 in Carson City near the N. Carson Street exit.

Only one vehicle was involved according to Nevada State Police, which held a single adult male occupant.

It appears that the vehicle was traveling southbound on I-580, went off the roadway and hit a wall before rotating and striking a guard rail until the vehicle finally stopped in the median.

The crash kept a portion of I-580 closed Saturday morning due to extensive damage and debris including about 30 feet of the cable barrier guard rail, said Trooper Charles Caster.

The victim’s name has not been released as of Monday morning. Impairment is suspected. The crash remains under investigation. We will update as more information becomes available.
