Partnership Carson City is aiming to remove harmful unused or expired prescription drugs from homes by offering a safe way to dispose of medications during its annual Drug Round Up event taking place Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Drug Round Up supports the national initiative to prevent drug misuse and abuse by providing a convenient and responsible way to discard prescription drugs.
Community members can drop off medications at any of the four collection sites throughout Carson City:
- South Carson Savemart [4348 S Carson St, Carson City, NV 89701]
- North Carson Savemart [3620 N Carson St, Carson City, NV 89706]
- Foodmaxx [3325 US-50, Carson City, NV 89701]
- Smith’s [599 E William St, Carson City, NV 89701]
The program helps protect the environment and promotes community well-being by ensuring medications are not improperly discarded or accessed.
“Events like the Drug Round Up are vital to keeping our community safe,” said Samantha Szoyka, certified prevention specialist and deputy director at Partnership Carson City. “By removing unused medications from homes, we reduce the risk of misuse and help prevent accidental poisonings, or accidental overdoses, especially among youth and older adults.”
Accepted items include pills, capsules, tablets, liquids and sharps in sealed containers.
This event is supported by a grant awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance to NyE Communities Coalition.
