UPDATE: A helicopter has been seen flying over Carson City at regular intervals Wednesday. Social media pages and Carson Now readers have been asking about the flyovers. The helicopter is doing aerial survey work, according Carson City Airport Manager Corey Jenkins.

It is a charter helicopter doing the survey work, preemptively checking for gas leaks. There is no danger or risk to the public. Before the flights, the helicopter pilot made contact with other pilots saying what their intentions were, which was to survey the area, said Jenkins. He noted land surveys are routine.

This particular survey has caught the attention of the public because it has been going on over Carson City from east to west for several hours.
