The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is offering free pre‑employment summer day camps to help youth with disabilities successfully transition from high school to post‑secondary education and/or employment.

This year, 29 week‑long camps will be available for students with disabilities ages 14 to 21 (or 22 per NRS 388.5223). Camps will run Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., throughout the months of June, July, and August. Locations include Carson City, Dayton, Fernley, Minden, Reno, Sparks, Silver Springs and Yerington.

“These free camps give Nevada students with disabilities the tools and support they need to take meaningful steps toward independence,” said Drazen Elez, Rehabilitation Division Administrator. “Through hands-on experiences and real-world exposure, students are building confidence and discovering new pathways to their future.”

The pre‑employment camps provide an engaging, interactive environment where students can explore new career paths, learn about educational opportunities, and develop essential skills to prepare for future employment. In addition to general pre‑employment daytime and overnight camps, VR also offers specialty camps tailored for young people who are deaf or hard of hearing, autistic, or blind or visually impaired.

In partnership with approved providers, VR customizes each camp around five core Pre‑Employment Services: Job Exploration, Post‑Secondary Education Counseling, Workplace Readiness Training, Self‑Advocacy, and Work‑Based Learning Experiences.

Registration for each camp closes one month prior to its start date. The full schedule and list of locations is available at: https://vrnevada.nv.gov/students-parents/.

Students may register for one camp per fiscal year (June 2025-July 2026) at: forms.office.com/g/8uyVbirQhr. Students do not need to be current VR clients to participate.
