More than 589 apprehensive but excited freshmen from the Class of 2030 joined the ranks of Carson High School Tuesday in a freshmen orientation led by administrators and school leadership teams. The new students joined the Senator ranks of more than 551 sophomores, 537 juniors and 562 seniors.

Additionally, nearly 900 educators and employees gathered for a districtwide back-to-school kick-off event at the Carson High School sports complex, where they had the opportunity to reconnect and hear from Superintendent Andrew Feuling.
Building a strong start to the school year, Mr. Feuling shared his vision and priorities for the new school year and celebrated the important role district employees play in supporting student success.

Although Carson City schools won’t officially open their doors to students until the first day of school Tuesday, August 18 (grades K-12) and August 20 (Pre-K), several meet-and-greet activities and kick-off events happened this week.
The Senator Kick-off event welcomed back all Carson High School upperclassmen, including seniors, juniors and sophomores. Students were able to get copies of their class schedules, obtain parking permits, purchase lockers and P.E. clothing, receive cellphone pouches and pay for yearbooks.

The school district also hosted a New Teacher Orientation event at the High Tech Center Wednesday, Aug. 5, and another one at the Governor’s Mansion Friday, Aug. 7, 2026. A total of 28 dedicated educators, two counselors and one speech pathologist were greeted by administrators and principals.
