Four people were arrested early Tuesday morning for alleged felony drug offenses after a deputy contact led to a stolen U-Haul, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

CCSO deputies arrested Kyle Scott Steenfott, 37, of Sparks for suspicion of felony possession of a stolen vehicle, four counts possession of identifying documents of an older person, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested were Richard Eddy, 53, Richard Bryan Lewellen, 25, and Kathleen Powell, 40, all for alleged possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, at around 11:14 p.m. a deputy observed a U-Haul backing into a parking spot in the 2100 block of East William Street and then observed two men inside the cab. The deputy continued to drive through the parking lot and circled back to the U-Haul. At this time, the deputy observed male subjects standing in from of the truck and one walked to the rear of the truck, closing the roll up door. The deputy conducted a consensual contact, the report states.

A deputy walked up to Kyle Steenfott and asked what they were up to. He stated he works for a moving company and was using the U-Haul to move furniture to Silver Springs. He stated they stopped to use the bathroom.

The deputy asked the man if he could open the back of the U-Haul to take a look. He agreed and opened the door, the report states. The deputy observed a male and female, later identified as Richard Lewellen and Kathleen Powell, inside the back of the truck. Lewellen was holding a blue gift bag. The deputy asked the both to step out of the truck to speak. A second unit was called to assist.

Steenfott and the two other male subjects, including Richard Eddy, provided the deputy with a Nevada DMV interim paper copies of their driver’s license, the report states.

The deputy asked Steenfott if he could search him. He agreed. The deputy located a small clear bag containing a white crystalline substance inside the man’s pant pocket. The deputy asked what this was and he stated drugs. The deputy also located a Nevada driver’s license belonging to another person, and a social security card belonging to another person inside the man’s pant pocket.

Steenfott was arrested and read his Miranda rights, which he understood and agreed to speak. The man stated there was a meth pipe inside the middle area of the U-Haul. The deputy asked why he had the driver’s license and social security card that didn’t belong to him. He stated he is their caregiver and they left it inside the U-Haul truck, according to the report. He stated the person did not know he was in possession of the cards. At this time, deputies ran the U-Haul plates through dispatch, with returned stolen out of Reno as of March 23. All subjects were placed into handcuffs and detained.

A search of the vehicle located multiple glass pipes with burn marks and residue, a long plastic tube with suspected drug residue, a small clear bag containing a white crystalline substance of suspected methamphetamine. All subjects were taken to jail and booked. The pipes and tubes tested positive for methamphetamine. Bail: $10,000 for Steenfott and $2,500 for Lewellen, Powell and Eddy.

In other arrests:
— A 34-year-old woman was arrested Monday for three counts misdemeanor intoxicated subject on the roadway, obstruction, disturbing the peace and two counts Department of Alternative Sentencing violations.

According to the booking report, deputies responded at 4:25 a.m. to the area of North Carson and Long for a welfare check. Dispatch advised that a woman was yelling that she wanted a knife.

Officers arrived and observed the woman attempting to cross the street. The woman appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The officer asked the woman to speak with him, where the woman then exited North Carson Street and sat down. The deputy observed her level of intoxication as she began to act erratic and then re-entered North Carson Street, attempting to walk away. She walked back to the sidewalk and then re-entered North Carson Street a third time.

Due to the woman being under the influence and continuing to enter North Carson Street, the deputy approached the woman, who then began to enter a fourth time. The deputy grabbed her arms but she resisted and attempted to walk away. She was arrested. Dispatch advised the woman was on Alternative Sentencing. DAS placed to holds on her. Bail: $4,000 cash only.

— A 50-year-old woman was arrested Monday for misdemeanor trespass not amounting to burglary. Bail: $1,137.

— A 55-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday for parole and probation hold and a contempt of court warrant. Bail: No bail hold for the parole and probation violation.
