Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez is recognized as this week’s Senior in the Spotlight.

Carson High School is proud to recognize Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez as this week’s Senior in the Spotlight, a student whose journey is best described in three words: resilient, kind and introspective.

Through hard work, leadership and an unwavering appreciation for the people who helped raise her, Brianna has built a high school career that reflects both her strength and her heart. Brianna was raised by an incredibly supportive duo, her abuela and her mom. With a young mother and a grandmother who helped guide and nurture her, Brianna grew up surrounded by resilience and love.

The sacrifices and encouragement from these two women have shaped the person she is today. Brianna often reflects on their influence and credits them for motivating her to push forward academically, athletically and personally. Education, she says, has always been her way of honoring the sacrifices her mom and abuela made so she could pursue her dreams.

At Carson High, Brianna has fully embraced academic challenge. She currently holds an impressive 4.38 weighted GPA and has taken 17 AP and Honors courses during her time at CHS. She has also completed the Health Sciences CTE pathway through HOSA, preparing her for a future in the medical field.

Beyond the classroom, Brianna has become a strong leader on campus. She serves as the Chapter President of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and has qualified for national competition twice, earning recognition, including Salesperson of the Year, Outstanding Outreach Award and acknowledgment from the Nevada Secretary of State.

She also serves as the Chapter Treasurer for HOSA, where she has earned CPR and First Aid certification and a Certificate of Skill Attainment in Medical Assisting. She is also an active member of CHS’s Latino Club. Through these organizations, Brianna has learned how leadership and service can create meaningful change in her community.

Athletics have also played a significant role in Brianna’s high school experience. A four-year varsity cross country athlete and current team captain, she has consistently competed at a high level, earning First Team All-Region honors twice and placing seventh individually at both regionals and state during her sophomore and junior years. In track and field, she was recognized as Distance Female of the Year, competed at the state level and helped her team win a regional title in the 4×800 relay, while setting a school record.

Her dedication to running reflects the same perseverance she brings to every aspect of her life. Brianna also finds joy in giving back. She works as a lifeguard at the Carson Pool, assists with youth running camps for elementary and middle school students, has worked with the Polar Express program and volunteers through her school clubs to support community events. Whether mentoring younger runners or helping organize community activities, Brianna consistently uses her time and talents to uplift others.

This fall, Brianna plans to attend the University of Nevada, Reno, alongside a close group of supportive friends who inspire each other to dream big and succeed together.

As a first-generation college student, Brianna is excited to continue pursuing her passion for medicine. She hopes to become an OB-GYN, driven by her belief that women should support women and that meaningful research and advancement in women’s health will only grow when more women enter the field. Those who know Brianna understand that her accomplishments only tell part of her story. Her quiet determination, thoughtful nature and deep gratitude for her family set her apart. Carson High School is incredibly proud of Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez and cannot wait to see the impact she will make in the world.
