Get ready, Carson City: Battle of the Bands is returning to Fuji Park for its second year April 26!

The event is hosted by the Carson City Active 20-30 club, and according to Treasurer Morgan Russell, community members were thrilled with last year’s event and asked for it to keep going.

“This is our largest event as a new club and we hope to continue the tradition,” Russell said. “We will be having food vendors and merchant vendor as well.”

Tickets can be purchased here, and cost $5-$20 depending on your age and if you buy in advance versus day of.

Battle of the Bands is definitely fun, but it’s not all for fun. The Active 20-30 Club raises money for children in need within the Carson City area, and the competition also serves as a fundraiser.

In addition to the competition, there is also a raffle with a variety of prizes.

“For raffle prizes last year we had a hot air balloon ride, a free groom from Pawsitive Vibes grooming salon, a facial product kit, a New West Distributing neon light sign and more,” Russell said.

So far for this year, they’ve collected gift certificates and gift baskets, but they are still searching for more raffle prize donations, and are accepting vendors for the food and merchandise areas.

The cost to become a food vendor is $200, and a craft vendor is $50.

There are also a number of sponsorship opportunities available, with the “Mic Drop” level new this year: for $100, one local underserved child will receive clothing socks and shoes during the club’s Back-to-School Spree.

Last year, six bands competed for the title of the Best of the Best, with the winner going to the Carson City based band “Quitter.”

So far, there are four bands registered to compete in 2025.

The winner will get to play at the 115th Carson Valley Days festival, which is hosted by the sister non-profit Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club. This year, the fun takes place June 12-15, 2025.

The four-day festival brings in thousands of participants each day and includes the quintessential Carson Valley Days Parade, the carnival, events such as arm wrestling competitions, dance routines, craft and food vendors, children’s game, face painting and more.
