Exploring the Meaning of Your Life: A 4-Week Workshop

Discover who and what was important in your journey and how it all fits together in a meaningful way. Join award-winning writer and speaker, Theresa Danna, for this free, 4-week workshop. Each session involves drawing a sketch of specific aspects of your life, with the opportunity to talk about your picture if desired. All supplies will be provided and no art experience is necessary. This free workshop is on Wednesdays through April 2, 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Zephyr Room (west end) of the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Call (775) 883-0703 to RSVP for the workshop.

A Conversation with Jill Derby 

Jill Derby, author and political activist, grew up in Los Gatos, Calif., but spent her early childhood on the family Flying Flapjack Ranch near Lovelock, Nev., and every summer through college on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Glenbrook.

She earned a BS from the University of California, San Francisco, and after living abroad and traveling widely, returned to Nevada to earn her BA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and both her MA and PhD from the University of California, Davis.

Her political activism started in the mid-1970s with her involvement in Nevada’s effort to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. In 1988, she was elected to the first of three six-year terms on the Nevada Board of Regents. She was the Democratic candidate for Congress in Nevada’s Second Congressional District in both 2006 and 2008. Derby is currently a Senior Fellow with the Association of Governing Board of Universities and Colleges, and past Chair of the Board of the American University in Sulaimani, Iraqi Kurdistan. Med Talk – Nourishing Traditions: Connecting Through Food

A presentation by Chelsea Minifie and Laura Deverse from Carson Tahoe Health, on nutrition and aging, mindful eating, and meal planning, followed by a Q&A session. The presentation is on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, Nevada Room (west end). This is a free event and RSVP is not necessary. Bingo Fundraiser for Meals on Wheels 

Play and win big, all while supporting Meals on Wheels! Bingo is held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, doors open at 11 a.m., games start at 1pm. Must be 21 or over to play. Early Bird, cashball, specials, progressives, and more! Bring cash to play. Bingo is in the Sagebrush dining room at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Chair Yoga Series 

Enhance strength, balance, and flexibility. Classes integrate asanas, meditation, and breathwork to help students release tension, calm the mind, and improve overall well-being. Taught by Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher Wanda La Russa. The classes are held every Tuesday from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, Joshua Tree Room (east end).
