UPDATE: A driver involved in the crash Monday morning on US-50 in Dayton was arrested for suspicion of DUI, according Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Chris Brown.

According to NHP investigators, the driver of a Honda Ridgeline was traveling eastbound on US-50 and a Chevy suburban was traveling westbound on US-50. The Honda failed to maintain a travel lane, striking the Chevy Suburban, according to NHP.

The driver of the Suburban sustained substantial, serious injuries, Sgt. Brown said. The driver of the Honda had minor injuries and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

The roadway at the crash scene is still currently closed, and should be reopen by 11 a.m. Brown said.

A crash on US-50 in Dayton with serious injuries Monday morning has caused traffic delays and the highway to close in the area. Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol is on scene of the crash, reported to troopers at 6:44 a.m.

According to NHP Sgt. Chris Brown, the crash was in the area of Highway 50 and Pine Cone. Westbound traffic at Highway 50 is closed around the crash scene, which has caused traffic to back up. NHP is diverting traffic onto Retail, Brown said. Motorists can expect delays and should avoid the area.

The extent of injuries are unknown at this time. We will update as more information becomes available.
