Join the Carson Nugget in Carson City as it celebrates its 67th anniversary during the month of March with giveaways, comedy and more.

History
The Carson Nugget opened on March 1, 1954 by Richard Graves. “The Carson Nugget took right off” Graves said during a 1978 interview with the University of Nevada’s Oral History Program. “It was very surprising to me because Carson was as sleepy little town: There wasn’t much business in town.”

During the grand opening, between March 5, 6, 7 of 1954, the famous Awful Awful Sandwich was offered for 55 cents.

In 1958, the Nugget was sold to the Adams family, which later transferred the title to the Hop and Mae Adams Trust.

In 2015, Dean DiLullo with M1 Gaming became the new owner of the Carson Nugget Casino and Hotel. The casino has over 300 slots as well as table games, Keno, Bingo and a Sports Book.

The property now includes 3 dining options inside the casino. Angelina’s Italian Steakhouse, The All-American Eatery, and Alatte Coffee and Wine Bar. This property also has an 8,000-square-foot banquet and events facility on the second floor. The casino also operates The Carson Tahoe Hotel.

The Famous Awful Awful Burger
The famous Awful Awful Burger was created by Dick Graves at the Carson Nugget on March 1, 1954. Dick Graves opened the Carson Nugget Casino and served the first Awful Awful Burger on opening day of the Carson Nugget. Carson Nugget is the home of the original Awful Awful Burger.

The Awful Awful consists of two all-beef patties served with four slices of cheese and served with seasoned French Fries. Graves later opened casinos in Reno and began to serve the famous burger there too.

The original Awful Awful Burger is still available on the All American Eatery menu, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and now also features the new, Super Awful Awful Burger.
