A 58-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer and resisting arrest, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies responded at 5:11 p.m. to a domestic dispute call between the male and his mother. Deputies arrived and could hear yelling coming from the apartment.

A deputy made contact with the suspect and began the investigation. The man was uncooperative with questioning and was continuously arguing, according to the booking report.

After numerous attempts to deescalate the situation, the suspect did not calm down and displayed aggressive and agitated behavior causing the deputy to be concerned the subject may abruptly strike them.

The man acted animated while he argued, quickly and subtly waving his arms as he gestured and stood close to the officer, and was asked to step back and calm down. The man continued to argue and then reach out and poked the deputy’s badge with his finger, the report states.

The officer grabbed the man by the wrist and took him to the ground where he was handcuffed.

During the investigation, officers determined that a domestic battery did not occur. The man was arrested for suspicion of obstructing and resisting a public officer. Bail: $764.

In other arrests:
— A 24-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and violation of bail conditions.

According to the booking report, a traffic stop was made in the area of Fall Street and East Sixth Street due to the driver believed to be driving while intoxicated.

Officers spoke with the driver where they could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the man’s breath. The man agreed to a series of field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

Dispatch also advised the man was on Alternative Sentencing for DUI with a $3,000 cash only hold for violation of bail conditions.

— A 59-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the area of North Carson and College Parkway for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

According to the booking report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to maintain a lane on North Carson Street and East Nye Lane.

The officer made contact with the driver who had a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The man was informed the reason for the traffic stop and asked him if he had been drinking. The man replied he had two beers about an hour prior, the report states.

The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .165 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided two evidentiary breath tests of .100 and .127.

— A 27-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Sunday for a violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Oct. 10, 2022. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a warrant issued Feb. 15 out of Carson City Township Court. Bail: $2,500.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. The warrant was issued Dec. 15, 2022. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 62-year-old Dayton man was booked Sunday for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Nov. 16, 2022 out of Carson City. Bail: $3,000 cash.
