Since mostly the regular trail users are out during snow times, here’s a view of the Riverview Park trail for those that may like to come out. The flat open areas are where Carson City and the fire department cleared the dead big sage and planted wildflowers and grasses for the spring.
If you are new to the trail, best to enter the main entrance, the Korean War Memorial Park at the end of 5th Street. (East side of Town past Eagle Valley Middle school). Walk straight east and make a left at the trail at bench and head north towards the north pump station. This will give you best views of Goni and the sweeping Sierra. Much different from a car and worth the effort.
Be sure to have shoes or boots that will help you on the ice. Dress warm in layers and enjoy the one mile walk!
