UPDATE: Due to recent weather conditions, all Lyon County School District schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Feb. 18. This delay includes all Pre-K students. Please note, all buses will be running 2 hours later than their normal schedule.
Meanwhile, because of hazardous weather and road conditions, all Washoe County School District schools are closed Wednesday.
All Storey County School District schools will be closed again on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026. Due to the significant snow accumulation, roads and school facilities are not safe for school operations.

Carson City, Nev. (Feb. 17, 2026) — Due to continuous, heavy snow accumulation throughout the day and into the evening and winter weather-related driving conditions, all schools in the Carson City School District will again be closed for the entire day Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026. This early notification is being made to allow families time to prepare for childcare needs.
All school employees and students should remain home. No student activities, afterschool programs or practices will occur. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.
