UPDATE: Due to the winter storm, all schools in the Washoe County School District and Storey County School District will be closed for the entire day Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026. Douglas County Schools are off this week on break. There are no closures posted at this time for Lyon County School District schools. The Western Nevada College campus in Carson City is also closed Tuesday. The Fallon campus remains open. UNR has canceled in-person classes, with remote options available.

As a result of the Winter Storm Warning, anticipated weather-related conditions and expected periods of heavy snow accumulation throughout the day, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026. This early notification is being made to allow families time to prepare for childcare needs.
All school employees and students should remain home. No student activities, afterschool programs or practices will occur. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.
