This week, pick up locations for free at-home COVID-19 tests have been announced throughout the Quad-County region including Douglas and Lyon counties and Carson City.
While 600,000 free at home COVID-19 tests were sent to Nevada to help with the ongoing Omicron surge, the majority of the tests have been sent to Clark County, which is not surprising considering it also contains the majority of Nevadans.
While each household was allowed to order four at-home COVID tests by mail from the federal government, what was determined to be a household often left many residents out. For example, if more than one household shared an address, or if there were more than four individuals in one household, there were simply no other options.
Now, individuals can pick up two tests per individual per visit at no cost from one of several participating locations.
In addition, in Carson City, individuals who would like to be tested for free can still receive testing at no cost through the LCB at the state capitol. More information and registration can be found here.
According to Carson City Health and Human Services Public Information Officer Jessica Rapp, the counties determined where their pickup locations would be.
“We collaborated with emergency engagement in each of the counties to determine locations,” said Rapp. “Ultimately the counties decided where they wanted to distribute them.”
