A 44-year-old man was taken into custody Thursday for alleged misdemeanor battery and a felony outside agency warrant, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Following an investigation, Rendon Hernandez was taken into custody for the misdemeanor battery offense and the felony warrant issued Oct. 29, 2008 out of Sparks Township Justice Court.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 1800 block of East William Street in reference to a battery. Deputies arrived and met with the victim who claimed he was sitting in his vehicle and that the suspect approached the vehicle and argued with him about past incidents. He said he vaguely knew the man.

The victim claimed the suspect punched his driver side window and then punched him in the face, according to the report. The victim had a cut and swollen lower lip and redness on the right side of his face, consistent with a closed fist strike. The victim said he wanted to press charges against the man for battery.

Deputies located the suspect and ran him through the wants and warrants database, which had a warrant out of Sparks Township Justice Court. Bail: $7,500.

In other arrests:

— A 42-year-old Sparks woman was arrested Thursday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 7, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000 cash.

— A 41-year-old Carson City woman, Bernadette Obryan, turned herself into Carson City Sheriff’s Office for a felony warrant alleging violation of a suspended sentence. The warrant was issued out of Carson City Justice Court on June 13, 2025. Bail: $3,000.

— A 25-year-old woman was taken into custody Thursday for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued Jan. 9, 2026 out of East Fork Justice Court. Bail: $540 cash.

— A 32-year-old man, Robert Joseph Chavez, was arrested Thursday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued out of Elmore County Idaho. Bail: $15,000 bondable for the warrant.

— A 40-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, drug parphernalia and violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions. Bail: $3,000 cash.
