Carson City Sheriff’s Office news release

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations and Patrol Divisions responded to a significant commercial burglary and vehicle theft which occurred at 3700 South Carson Street at the Michael Hohl GMC dealership during the early-morning hours on Feb. 6, 2021.
Dealership staff arrived in the morning hours to discover that a vehicle had been stolen, 22 key sets and remotes for newer vehicles were missing, their service building was broken into, and several damaged vehicles were left behind on the property.
Suspects attempted to steal a Toyota truck, but crashed the vehicle during the attempt and abandoned the vehicle. Suspects also successfully stole a Jeep SUV. Vehicle diagnostic computer equipment was also stolen.
Dealership staff estimated the damaged property and loss to be estimated at approximately $100,000 to include the missing computer equipment, key sets, damaged vehicles, and stolen vehicle.
Both the Investigations Division and Patrol Division worked very closely to share information, gather evidence, and generate leads.
On Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a Patrol Deputy discovered a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a casino to the south of the dealership. Deputies spoke with Daniel McRunnel of Stockton, Calif. During the contact, Deputies discovered that Daniel was in possession of multiple sets of the stolen vehicles keys and diagnostics equipment stolen during the previous morning. Mr. McRunnel was arrested for possession of stolen property.
Detectives conducted an interview on Mr. McRunnel, where he confessed to his involvement and gave information which generated additional leads. These leads were passed to the Patrol Division.
On Sunday at approximately 9:30 a.m., another patrol deputy located the outstanding stolen vehicle and two additional suspects involved in the Hohl burglary These persons were identified as Oscar Lopez and Michelle Navas; also of Stockton, Calif.
Mr. Lopez and Ms. Navas were interviewed by detectives, who both confessed to their involvement in the Hohl burglary and vehicle thefts. It was determined that all three suspects operated in concert to complete the burglary and vehicle theft.
All suspects were arrested, and all stolen property was recovered within 24 hours after the initial report.
