An 18-year-old man was arrested Friday for felony robbery after allegedly stealing a bottle of whiskey from a grocery store and pushing a clerk, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Tzion Hanses was taken into custody at 5:35 p.m. in the 500 block of East William Street following an investigation.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatch for a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated the suspect took a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, ran out of the store and tried to push down a checker.

Deputies spoke with the clerk who said that a customer advised “a kid was stealing booze,” the report states. The clerk said he stopped the suspect inside the store and told him to give the booze back and he could go free. The bottle of Jack Daniel’s was valued at $30.

The suspect decided to leave the building and had been pushed twice, with the suspect taking off toward the library. The clerk completed a statement and a cell phone photo of the suspect was provided. Deputies put the photo out to units that had been in the area, where they then found the suspect near the library with the bottle of Jack Daniel’s.

The suspect was read his Miranda and said that he would talk. He said he had gone to the store to take beer but saw the Jack Daniel’s and grabbed that. A deputy asked if he had pushed the employee. He said no and that was all he would say, the report states.

Management advised they would work to provide video. He was taken into custody for suspicion of felony robbery. Bail: $30,000.

A 43-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery second offense, according to a Carson City sheriff’s booking report.

According to the report, a reporting party contacted Carson City dispatch regarding a fight between and man and woman.

Deputies arrived and met with the man. He said he had gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend and stated the argument had started that morning when he spent the night in the garage.

He advised the woman became upset with him for sleeping in the garage overnight and also about his job status. The man said he has been trying to find work and make money, which has put stress on them and has been the root of some arguments.

He stated he went into the house in the morning from the garage and tried to stay quiet, but the woman was upset with him. He said he never touched her and kept his hands in the air for most of the argument, the report states.

Deputies spoke with the woman, who advised of the argument, which she said began to escalate and that she gathered the man’s clothing to have him leave and at one point she said the man hit her and pushed her up against a closet and hit her in the chin. She denied medical attention and did not have any visible injuries, the report states.

She said she yelled for help and to call 911. At that point the man had calmed and walked away. The reporting party, who called it in to dispatch, said they heard what appeared to be someone being shoved or hit and advised they only heard the physical part but did not see it, the report states.

Due to the circumstances, the man was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested. Bail: $5,000.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI alcohol and drugs and obstruction and resisting.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to Adams Street at 7:41 p.m. for a suspicious vehicle. Officers arrived and learned the driver of the vehicle was impaired and that there were multiple empty alcohol containers in the vehicle as well as an empty body of vodka outside the passenger door. It was also learned there was marijuana in the vehicle.

The driver agreed to standardized field sobriety tests. The man advised he took medications for medical conditions. While asking the medical questions, the officer observed thick slurred speech, red watery eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from his person and he was swaying from side to side. At one point, he stepped away from the patrol vehicle and nearly fell over and took a few steps to catch himself, the report states.

As the deputy began to explain the next steps for the field sobriety tests, the man stated he wasn’t going to do them. He asked what would happen if he refused. The deputy again asked if he was willing to submit to the tests. He again refused. The officer said he would go to jail based on the evidence, the report states.

The man then turned to the right and took off running. Deputies chased and caught up to him near Pioneer High School. He was arrested. The deputy read the request for voluntary evidence. The man stated he was not going to give a breath or blood test. A deputy applied for a telephonic search warrant for a blood draw. The warrant was signed by a judge, the report states.

The man resisted and fought against deputies as a phlebotomist drew a vial of blood. The man continued to be uncooperative and fought and resisted jail staff. He was placed into a padded cell for safety. He was booked for suspicion of DUI first offense and obstructing and resisting an officer. Bail: $1,137.

— A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle without a license plate in the area of North Carson and Musser.

The deputy made contact with the driver who pointed at a moving permit taped to the windshield. The deputy asked the man if he could hand him the moving permit, which he did, the report states. The deputy asked for his insurance and he said he did not have active insurance on the car. He said he had previously been pulled over and was not advised he needed insurance on the car while he had a moving permit.

The deputy noticed the man had slurred speech and he could smell a faint odor of alcohol coming from his person. The deputy asked the man if he had any alcoholic beverages. The man said he had two beers at a casino earlier. The man was asked if he would be willing to conduct field sobriety tests. The man said yes. During the medical questioning, the man stated he was taking antibiotics and was recovering from the flu. He said he had two beers at the casino and smoked from a marijuana pen earlier.

The man showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .141 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided evidentiary breath tests of .111 and .106. Bail; $1,137.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man, Travis Bomar, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, driving with a revoked driver’s license, probation violation and a felony parole and probation hold.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the area of Telegraph Street for a possible drunk driver. The reporting party stated the driver could not walk straight and had slurred speech. The man was seen getting into a vehicle and driving onto Robinson Street.

Deputies learned the vehicle was located at the corner of Robinson and North Valley. Deputies arrived on scene and observed the man matching the description. The man smelled of alcohol, the report states.

As he was about to be detained for suspicion of DUI, he began to walk away. The man was told to stop and he continued to walk away. He was detained, handcuffed and read his Miranda warning. The man said he understood his rights and refused to speak.

A records check showed he had a hold for parole and probation, a probation violation warrant and had a revoked license out of Nevada and suspended license out of California.

Due to the circumstances, he was arrested for suspicion of DUI and the parole and probation offenses. He refused to give a breath sample and told deputies to “get a warrant,” the arrest report states. Deputies applied for and received a warrant for a blood draw. Bail: No bail hold for in lieu of a parole and probation hearing.

— A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing and defrauding a proprietor.

According to the booking report, deputies responded to a South Carson Street casino where the man had been trespassed earlier. Dispatch was advised that before he arrived at the casino, he jumped out of a cab and refused to pay.

The casino wanted the man arrested for trespass, a nearby motel wanted the man trespassed and the driver of the cab wanted to press charges for the man refusing to pay for the cab ride.

The man was located near the casino and motel and was arrested. He provided a preliminary breath test of .189. Bail: $1,137.
