UPDATE: A law enforcement issue involving a threat at Virginia City High School has prompted Storey County School District to cancel classes at the high school with all other schools operating on a 2-hour delay Wednesday morning.
According to a social media post, Storey County School District is currently working in coordination with law enforcement regarding an issue impacting Virginia City High School.
“The district is working closely with the Storey County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a threat specific to the High School. Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to cancel classes at the high school today. We will provide additional information as the investigation unfolds.

In an earlier message, the district wrote the following:
“Out of an abundance of caution, all Storey County Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay today. Please stay away from High School and R Street. At this time, there is no action required from families. We will continue to communicate updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff,” according to the school district.
