A magnitude 2.27 earthquake happened at 12:41 p.m. Tuesday in Douglas County, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory.
The earthquake was centered 4.4 miles northeast of Gardnerville.
Social media posts say the small earthquake was felt in the Minden, Gardnerville and Carson Valley area.
