YERINGTON, Nev. — On Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at approximately 8:49 p.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Mason Pass Road between Yerington and Smith Valley.
Deputies, along with personnel from the Yerington/Mason Valley Fire Department, arrived on scene and located a vehicle with four occupants, three of whom were juveniles. First responders initiated life-saving measures on one individual and provided medical assistance to the remaining occupants.
An 18-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene despite resuscitation efforts. A second occupant was transported by medical helicopter to Renown Medical Center for advanced treatment. The two remaining occupants were taken to South Lyon Medical Center for additional care.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation. No further information is available at this time, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
