The public is invited to tune in via Facebook to watch Roker on Monday, Jan. 25.

For winter enthusiasts eager to explore South Tahoe’s vast outdoor winter wonderland, tourism officials recommend advance planning, mid-week stays, and securing reservations early for desired attractions and dining. To help visitors plan a safe, healthy winter adventure, Tahoe South offers updated information on its website at “Know Before You Go” and Responsible Recreation with all current state and county health protocols.

South Lake Tahoe will begin the long-awaited rebound from the Covid-19 pandemic with the opening Friday, June 12 of select area attractions, trails, beaches, retail, dining and accommodations on both the Nevada and California side of South Shore.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners on April 16 approved 3 to 2 a bond issuance for the Tahoe South Event Center, the final step in the project’s approval process.

Heading into the weekend, post-Christmas holiday activities continue around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Christmas Through the Years presentation at the Carson Valley Community Theater, Open Mic Night at A to Zen Gift Shop, musicians Lauren Kepler and Dan Cypher at Bella Vita Bistro, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club and much more!

As summer winds down, fall events in Tahoe South are ramping up. And the secret’s out: Fall in Tahoe South is one of the most idyllic times to visit with mild weather, off-season lodging rates, more beach space and numerous events starting Labor Day Weekend.

Carson High School Principal Gavin Ward stood at the north entrance high-fiving students as they entered high school, some of them for the first time. In fact, counselors, teachers, and other administrators stood at each of the school entrances welcoming students to the best high school in the state, hyperbole aside.

Lake Street Dive tours the US this summer in support of its critically acclaimed 2018 album, Free Yourself Up. The band has new headlining shows, several of which find them co-headlining with The Wood Brothers, as well as in support of the The Avett Brothers. The new dates continue in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 25 and include shows across the country, in North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, California, and more (full schedule below).

More than 300 volunteers stepped up to clean up Lake Tahoe beaches the day after the July 4 celebration, collecting more than 1,875 pounds of litter that would have otherwise harmed the lake's fragile ecosystem.

The Tahoe Symphony Orchestra, also known as TOCCATA, helps you celebrate the Fourth of July spirit with family and friends, close to home. A record-breaking winter, a full lake and a packed calendar beckons visitors to the Sierra as Tahoe South heats up with summer events including its famed fireworks show, a celebrity golf tournament, star-studded headline concerts and more.

Nearly 40 teams representing organizations and businesses throughout western Nevada will take a jump into the chilly waters at Lake Tahoe on Saturday, March 30 for the annual Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.

Bay Area legends Tower of Power rumbled into Lake Tahoe on Friday night and took everyone at MontBleu Casino Resort & Spa back to when soul music ruled the land and everyone knew what was hip.

TOCCATA, Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus presents celebrated American violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn performing one of the 10 greatest violin concertos of all time. And more than 100 singers and instrumentalists bring you Mendelssohn’s spectacular “Elijah.” Hear the concert at Carson Valley Methodist Church in Gardnerville on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. Other performances Feb. 9-17 in Incline, South Lake, and Reno.

There will be another three-night string of musical incidents this winter at Lake Tahoe.

According to the calendar, summer is coming to a close but South Lake Tahoe is refusing to acknowledge it. Tahoe South will host a magnitude of events extending the season from Labor Day into October with entertainment, culinary festivals, music, outdoor recreation, competitions and a lakefront laser show.

Nearly 500 people volunteered Thursday along the shoreline of Lake Tahoe as part of a lakewide cleanup organized by the League to Save Lake Tahoe. Participants removed 1,458 pounds of litter that would have harmed the lake’s ecology.

MONDAY UPDATE: One lane in each direction is open on Highway 50 in Stateline. Use caution if you are traveling in the area as crews continue to work on the repairs from yesterday’s explosion.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — There was an explosion just after 5 a.m. in Stateline on Sunday morning, causing the road to buckle and closing Highway 50 in both directions through the casino corridor. Multiple agencies are on the scene including NV Energy, the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Tahoe Douglas Fire Department.

LAKE TAHOE — It was March Madness on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe Sunday as more than 200 people braved frigid waters all in the spirit of raising money for Special Olympics.

UPDATE: The Polar Plunge has been postponed and moved to Sunday, March 18 instead of St. Patrick's Day, Saturday, March 17, because of inclement weather.

The Special Olympics of Northern California and Nevada is currently holding a fundraiser for children and adults with disabilities that will culminate in the Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 17, at Zephyr Cove at south shore Lake Tahoe in Douglas County.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Are extreme weather events linked to global warming? Deciphering the science and providing answers is the job of national weather broadcasters and journalists. How do they decide what is aired? These topics and more will be addressed at Tahoe South’s annual Operation Sierra Storm, a leading national weather conference Jan. 21-24.

With substantial early season snow coverage, Tahoe South is looking to double down on a second consecutive winter of remarkable conditions packed with its renowned 24-hour vibe and hospitality.

As the sun came up over Lake Tahoe the day after the July 4 celebrations, scores of volunteers were headed to the beaches to help clean up the trash left behind on local beaches.

Celebrated as one of the best July 4th fireworks shows in the nation attracting an estimated 100,000 people, “Lights on the Lake” pyrotechnic display at south shore Lake Tahoe is synchronized to music from patriotic favorites to new chart-topping rock and pop hits.

This year's show ‘Legends Are Forever’ is going to be our biggest and most entertaining to date. Our theme is about legendary icons such as singers, composers, ballets, bands and children's favorites that have given us inspiration to dance.

"We have split our recital into 3 separate shows, hoping to give our audiences an enjoyable experience watching different levels of dancers perform excellent choreography with passion, technique and the Love of Dance,” said Joan Elias Forever Dance’s Artistic Director/Owner.
