Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020 that there are 55 new cases and 40 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. Nineteen of these additional 55 new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,793, with 2,048 recoveries and 27 deaths; 718 cases remain active.

Due to the great demand for COVID-19 symptomatic testing in our area, and to help manage the influx of COVID cases, Carson Tahoe is providing symptomatic testing at two convenient locations. This service is reserved is for people experiencing COVID-like symptoms such as; fever, cough, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, and sore throat.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 that there are 45 new cases and 35 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. Twenty of these additional new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,738, with 2,008 recoveries and 27 deaths; 703 cases remain active.

The Quad County area (specifically Carson City) is still seeing a significant rise in COVID-19 cases, and we are continuing to see a surge in hospitalizations as well.

Strong south to southwest winds will affect the Carson City and Sierra regions Tuesday into Tuesday night, prompting a High Wind Warning from the National Weather Service and a Winter Storm Warning for the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Twenty-three of these additional 55 new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,693, with 1,973 recoveries and 27 deaths; 693 cases remain active.

Miramonte High School didn’t have a swimming pool, so we students got together and dug one, well, we collected enough money from the community to dig one, and the entire village turned out for the dedication.

MINDEN, Nev. — The Nevada COVID Task Force notified Douglas County that they are flagged for elevated COVID-19 disease transmission. Douglas County saw a spike in infection rates back in July, but then numbers declined for several months.

Carson City Health and Human Services is announcing a new phone number for the Quad-County COVID-19 Hotline. Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 17 the phone number will be (775) 434-1988.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced he continues to be in good spirits and has only experienced mild head congestion related to his positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested Friday, Nov. 13 for suspicion of drug possession and 7 misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City sheriff's office booking report. A 38-year-old man who was with her was also booked for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Sunday, Nov 15, 2020 that there are 369 new cases and 26 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. Of these 369 new cases, 343 are offenders in the Warm Springs Correctional Facility. This brings the total number of cases to 2,638, with 1,948 recoveries and 27 deaths; 663 cases remain active.

The Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County is seeking donations of Thanksgiving turkeys for families in need, and will be collecting them Friday at Max Casino in Carson City.

Another round of gusty winds will return to the Carson City region Tuesday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a High Wind Watch for valley and mountain areas and a Winter Storm Watch for the greater Lake Tahoe area.

Carson City Health and Human Services reported Saturday that there are 25 new cases and 18 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,269, with 1,922 recoveries and 27 deaths; 320 cases remain active.

Prison officials say 81 percent of the inmates at Warm Springs Correctional Center in Carson City have tested positive for COVID-19, marking the worst outbreak to date in the state’s prison system.

As part of a regular testing protocol, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak underwent routine COVID-19 testing on Friday, November 13 in Carson City. A rapid test provided a positive result. The Governor also received a diagnostic PCR test and those results are pending at this time.

At this time, the Governor is not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Earlier this week, the Governor expressed feeling fatigue, however he attributed this to his demanding schedule. No other symptoms were experienced.

UPDATE 2:08 p.m.: Sheriff's Office units were told they could clear the scene.

UPDATE: As of 2:02 p.m., first responders are on scene. An evacuation has not been called yet.

Just before 2 p.m. on Friday a possible structure fire was reported at the Gold Dust West hotel.

For the week ending November 7, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,556, down 602 claims, or 7.4 percent, compared to last week’s total of 8,158 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). Through the week ending November 7, there have been 752,795 initial claims filed in 2020, 731,143 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

According to the US Geological Survey a 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred early Friday morning around 1:13 a.m.

The Capital City Arts Initiative and Western Nevada College present "Metallum Terrae" an exhibition by Kyle Karrasch in the college’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City now through Dec. 17, 2020. The gallery is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A fast moving weather system will move across northern Nevada and the Sierra on Friday into Saturday, bringing gusty winds, prompting wind warnings and advisories for the region. The weather system will also bring periods of mountain snow and mainly light valley rain, according to the National Weather Service.
