'Nutcracker' ballet gets help from local politicians
The Pinkerton Ballet Theater turns the classic holiday ballet "The Nutcracker" into a chance for some political types to take part at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Carson Community Center, 851 E. William St. Tickets are $23.5 general admission, $19.50 for senior and students. Call (775) 230-1915.
The political figures involved are Carson Mayor Bob Crowell, State Senator Mark Amodei and City Assessor Dave Dawley. Crowell appears Friday, Dawley on Saturday and Amodei Sunday. And the entire cast is local in desire if not actuality.
No need to refresh memories of the story of the Nutcracker; it involves a Christmas gift Nutcracker and some bad people. But the music, by Tchaikowsky, is perfect for holiday times and as they say, the story is good for everybody.
