Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Youth Theatre Carson City to hold auditions for 'The Spongebob Musical' Youth Edition

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce auditions for Nickelodeon’s The Spongebob Musical, Youth Edition, a 60-minute adaptation of the hit Broadway show based on the iconic Nickelodeon series! The show will run four performances, July 26-28, 2024 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, Spongebob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world.

With music and songs by a host of celebrated musicians including Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At The Disco, Lady A, Plain White T’s, David Bowie and many more, The Spongebob Musical is an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers ages 5-19, who will be cast to play all of the beloved Nickelodeon characters including the unflappable Spongebob Squarepants, his best friends Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, his grumpy neighbor Squidward Q. Tentacles, the greedy Mr. Krabs and his whale of a daughter Pearl, the evil genius Sheldon J. Plankton and his computer wife Karen; and a host of colorful undersea characters who help bring the fantastical world of Bikini Bottom to life.

Initial auditions for The Spongebob Musical, Youth Edition will be held via self-tape videos which are due May 30, 2024. Callbacks and additional auditions will be held at 4pm on Thursday June 6, 2024 at Western Nevada Performing Arts Center located at 951 N. Stewart St. in Carson City.

A widespread power outage Saturday evening has affected much of Douglas County, including Minden, Gardnerville and areas of the south county and Kingsbury. NV Energy reports 14,034 customers were without power as of around 9 p.m.

A large fire has been reported and spotted on the wildland fire cameras in Lyon County as of Friday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m. the smoke plume was first reported near Speedway and 95A in Lyon County.
