Junior Park Ranger Day returns to Carson City this Saturday, hikes for kids and more
Junior Park Ranger Day is back this Saturday, April 27 at Riverview Park in Carson City.
Junior Park Ranger Day is an annual event dedicated to help kids complete their Junior Ranger Adventure Guides and be sworn in all in one day.
Junior Rangers will get hands on learning experiences with Park Rangers from Carson City. Kids (and adults if desired) of all ages will receive a free Carson City Junior Ranger Adventure Guide that will be used on their adventures throughout the day.
Park Rangers will also be leading three different guided hikes. Once their requirements in the guide are completed, they can receive an official patch and be sworn in as a Carson City Junior Park Ranger.
The hikes are considered "easy" under the IMBA Trail Rating System. Participants can expect flat terrain for all of the hikes. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring plenty of water and snacks. This program is weather dependent.
The fun begins at 9 a.m. at Riverview Park and registration is required. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and dogs are allowed but must remain on a six-foot leash.
If you or a family member requires it, Park Rangers have one GRIT Freedom all-terrain wheelchair available. If you'd like to request to use this wheelchair during out program, email parkrangers@carson.org. This request is on a first come first serve basis.
