Country great Lacy J. Dalton picked as 2024 Nevada Day Parade Grand Marshal
The Nevada Day, Inc. Board of Directors announced Monday the 2024 Nevada Day Parade Grand Marshal will be well known country singer and horse activist Lacy J. Dalton.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Lacy J. Dalton on the parade route with us!” said Jennell Peck, Nevada Day Inc. President. “She is a legend in country music and we are so lucky to have her!”
Lacy J. Dalton has been a big name in country music since 1979 when she won the Academy of Country Music Top New Female Vocalist, and she is still going strong.
Her accolades include two gold records and a platinum record for her collaboration with Willie Nelson on his album “Half Nelson.”
In 2017, Lacy was inducted into the North American Country Music Association's International Hall of Fame and in 2022, she was honored with a Josie Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. She has worked along some of the biggest names in country music and could reside anywhere, but her deep appreciation of this state keeps her living and working in northern Nevada.
Another reason Lacy makes northern Nevada her home is her love and conviction to help wild horses.
In 1999, she co-founded the Let ‘Em Run foundation which is focused on education, fund raising and building awareness to promote “the appropriate and compassionate management of the wild horse” and other endangered or mistreated animals.Lacy is committed to Let ‘Em Run and continues to play concerts throughout the west fundraising for this cause which is so dear to her heart.
“This year’s parade will be one to remember with the theme ‘All for our Country’ and our area’s top country singer as the Grand Marshal,” added Jennell Peck. “Put Oct. 26 on your calendar, you’re not going to want to miss this!”
