Something Rotten\, Jr.\, adapted from the hilarious hit Broadway sensation\, tells the story of two brothers\, Nick and Nigel Bottom who are desperate to write a hit play\, but are stuck in the shadow of the great William Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing\, dancing\, and acting at the same time\, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. Set in the Shakespearean era\, Something Rotten is a mix of Shakespearean cheek\, modern comedy\, contemporary music\, and good old fashioned musical theatre. Hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years\,” Something Rotten\, Jr. is a must-see\, and all that jazz. \n\n\n\nSomething Rotten\, Jr. features the talents of over 40 local youth grades 6-12. The concert also includes Steven Rosenhaus’s Nevada Bagatelles and three movements from Robert W. Smith’s Symphony No. 2 (The Odyssey). \n\n\n\nTickets are $18 general admission; $15 for seniors\, students\, and Symphony Association members; and free for youth age 18 and under. Tickets are on sale online at CCSymphony.com or at the door. “Flex” tickets at discounted prices are also available at CCSymphony.com. During the week before the concert (April 18 through 25)\, blood donors at Vitalant–Carson City may receive a complimentary ticket to the concert. \n\n\n\nPre-show entertainment by Naomi Adams\, cello\, and Wendy Whyman\, keyboard\, begins at 3:00 p.m. in the lobby. The band will perform a variety of music including marches\, The Beach Boy’s Greatest Hits and Pixar Movies selections. \n\n\n\nThe band was founded in 1978 by Richard Doede and is currently conducted by Nick Jacques. \n\n\n\nThe concert is free and open to all members of our community and surrounding areas.  \n\n\n\nCome and join the band in celebrating 48 years of sharing music with our community and enjoy the music of the next generation of Carson City musicians. The Extravaganza is sponsored by the Mile High Jazz Band Association as a benefit for youth jazz programs. \n\n\n\nPerforming with Mile High Jazz Band this year are the Carson High SchoolJazz Band directed by Nick Jacques\, the Carson Middle School Jazz Band directed by Stephanie Van Orman\, and the Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra directed by Nichole Heglund. \n\n\n\nTickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. The concert includes the Nevada premiere of Gwyneth Walker’s America 250!\, Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances\, and more. \n\n\n\nTickets are $18 general admission; $15 for seniors\, students\, and Symphony Association members; and free for youth age 18 and under. DESCRIPTION:Carson City Symphony’s Youth Strings ensembles\, Youth Chorus\, and Not Quite Ready for Carnegie Hall Players (NQR) adult intermediate string ensemble\, will perform a “Music with Friends” concert on Thursday\, December 11\, 6:30 p.m.\, at the Carson City Community Center\, 851 E. William Street. \n\n\n\nPre-concert entertainment in the lobby is by Naomi Adams\, cello\, and Wendy Whyman\, piano. This family friendly concert is open to all\, refreshments are available in the lobby\, and admission is free. \n\n\n\nThe program includes traditional\, folk\, and classical selections. Performers are students from Pre-K through high school age and adults\, including beginning violins and cellos; the Allegro and STRAZZ youth strings ensembles; youth chorus; and the NQR adult string ensemble. Conductors are Education Director Suzanne McGarraugh\, Youth Chorus Director Nancy Jones\, and Instructors Nancy Scott and Jaden Caraway. \n\n\n\nSymphony Youth Strings and Chorus are Carson City Symphony Association’s tuition-free\, after-school programs for young musicians. NQR is open to adult intermediate-level string players. The FREE concert will be presented in the Boldrick Theater in the Carson Community Center at 2:00 P.M. \n\n\n\nEnjoy seasonal favorites\, marches\, and patriotic music played by our 50-member band. \n\n\n\nThe concert will feature traditional and new Christmas songs\, including Polor Express\, A Showstoppin’ Christmas\, Midnight In Bethlehem \, Festival Espanol\, and of course\, Sleigh Ride. \n\n\n\nThis concert is perfect for the whole family and a great way to begin your holiday season. And IT’S FREE! Donations are happily accepted. \n\n\n\nThe Capital City Community Band was founded in 1978 by Richard Doede as a venue for adult musicians in which to perform. Many of the members played in high school\, college\, and beyond\, professionally. Others began playing as adults. All the musicians\, including the director and soloists\, perform without monetary compensation.
